What To Eat With Fibroids. Natural Fibroid Treatment

By admin | August 4, 2011

Are you wondering what to eat with fibroids? If so, you have probably realized the importance of eating the correct types of foods.  There are several potential causes of uterine fibroids and eating the wrong foods can be a primary contributory factor.

Other reasons for fibroid growth include estrogen overload, genetic factors and lifestyle choices. Natural fibroid treatment really can help you to overcome this condition without surgery.

It is interesting that estrogen overload can have several causes in itself and one of which is the diet.  The hormone estrogen is a well known primary causal factor for a number of disorders affecting the female reproduction system, including endometriosis, ovarian cysts and, of course, uterine fibroids.

When looking at what to eat with fibroids, you should consider your intake of fat.  Being overweight in itself is a problem as the fat cells are a secondary storage area for estrogen. Consequently, the more fat cells you have, the more estrogen you are likely to store.  In addition, animal feeds and pesticides can sometimes be a source of estrogen and eating animal fats can be counterproductive if you have fibroids.  You should therefore eat only small quantities of lean, organically produced meat.

What To Eat With Fibroids

You should concentrate on the following food groups:-

  • Beans, Nuts, Grains and Pulses-These contain high concentrated levels of nutrients including protein, vitamins and fiber.  Fiber is very important as it is believed that it can absorb excess estrogen and eliminate it from the body
  • Fresh Fruits and Vegetables-You should aim to eat around 5-7 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables daily, concentrating on a higher proportion of vegetables than fruit.  As a general rule of thumb, the darker and brighter the produce, the richer in nutrients.  Particularly good foods to eat with fibroids include dark green leafy vegetables like kale and cabbage.  Choose organic produce as this will not contain pesticides.
  • Garlic and Onion-These are examples of food which are rich in antioxidants which are known to speed up the healing process within the body.  They are believed to be helpful for women with uterine fibroids.

In general, when considering what to eat with fibroids, you should think about the balance between cooked and raw foods.  In general, raw foods contain higher levels of nutrients than cooked foods (one notable exception being tomatoes) and so where practical, eat your fruits and vegetables raw.  If you can aim to have a diet which consists of 70% of your food in a natural state, that is a healthy balance.

For your beverages, plain, filtered water is best, although herbal teas and limited quantities of diluted fresh juices are fine.  Keeping your body well hydrated is a very important factor and a minimum of 2 liters of fluid daily should be incorporated into your diet.  The important aspect of hydration must not be forgotten when looking at what to eat with fibroids.

Taking other natural fibroid treatment steps as well as changing your diet really is essential if you want to gain the maximum impact.  Altering your diet in itself will have limited impact on your condition and you need to ensure that you take regular exercise as well as managing stress, undergoing liver detoxes and supplementing your diet appropriately.
